Our Mission
The Office of Faculty Affairs provides oversight for all faculty and academic personnel actions in the College of Medicine such as recruitment, appointments, and promotions and tenure. It develops and coordinates activities that enhance the work-life and professional development of faculty, including faculty diversity initiatives. The office serves as a resource for administrators in the interpretation and application of faculty related policies and guidelines.
Specifically, the Office of Faculty Affairs:
- Promotes faculty development by providing programs that build professional skills and knowledge, including new faculty orientation
- Advises individual faculty members and assists departments regarding faculty appointment, promotion and tenure
- Supports initiatives that enhance the quality of faculty life, such as expanding mentoring opportunities
- Creates and implements leadership development programs
- Coordinates activities pertaining to faculty governance (elections, committees, bylaws) including development of faculty related policies
- Fosters recruitment and retention of a more diverse faculty
- Coordinates and oversees searches for high level leaders
